This past weekend Clinton has lost a member of our family Akeem Foster to a car crash. Akeem was the type of person that always wanted to have fun, energetic and a great person to be around. He was my teammate and a good friend of mine so it took me by surprise when I heard the bad news. In remembrance of Akeem, a candle lighting was held on the basketball court by our college dorms and many people came out to show their condolences. Sarah McCarty along with the Clinton staff did a great job with setting up the candle lighting with great detail too. At the lighting his basketball jersey was displayed on the podium and right next to it was his favorite game chair. Blue was his favorite color so towards the end of the lighting everyone received a blue balloon to let go into the air. When the lighting was over there were refreshments and snacks in the cafeteria filled with Akeem’s favorite drinks and snacks consisting of Sprite, Oreos and brownies. Akeem made sure he drank everything out of a double cup so all the cups were doubled up just for bro (short abbreviation for brother). I really appreciated what the school did for my friend Akeem, it turned a sad moment to a moment of appreciation to have a friend like him. Rest In Peace, Akeem you’ll be missed dearly.
